ABOUT US

The Blue Ridge Community Center is located at 315 Holland Avenue (the old Code Elementary School Building).  The SDOC in cooperation w/the community has allowed a group of citizens/residents to utilize the building as a community center.  The building is also home of the Blue Ridge High School (the all black high school) which closed its doors in 1969 when integration took place.  In order to keep the legacy/history alive, a group of citizens have created the Blue Ridge Community Center (BRCC) as a 501©(3) not for profit center.  Our vision is to bring programming & activities to the community that will help us make informed decisions and live better lives.  The community center eventually will bring programming & events to the community that will assist its residents in making educational & life changing decisions that will have an impact for a life time. Programming that is now being considered are issues of Domestic Violence, Living Wills, Healthy Eating, Exercise options, reading/literacy, basic computer skills, job training options, and sporting programs for children.  We are open to any and all suggestions as the space becomes available.  We want this to be a community center for all people.

If you have an interest in becoming a part of such an adventure, please contact Helen Rosemond-Saunders, 903-0547 with your name or use the contact form on this website.  If you have information to provide to the residents that will help them make life changing decisions, please contact us as well.

Message from Board

Message from Board Members

It is not the intent of BRCC to duplicate services provided by other community agencies. Rather, our desire is to ensure that services needed within the Seneca community are made available to residents who are unable to travel to other county facilities. Therefore, BRCC will collaborate with other agencies to house some of their services at BRCC. Doing so can also make some of these services available at hours outside the sponsoring agency's normal operating hours.

BRCC will also provide opportunities for youth & adult engagements in educational and recreational activities.

Mission

Purpose:  BRCC is a charitable organization organized to provide educational opportunities to community youth and adults.

Mission:  To serve as a catalyst/medium to provide educational, sports, and developmental programs & activities to community residents while enhancing their ability to make informed life decisions & become model citizens.
